Known as one of Adelaide’s most reputable wholesale meat suppliers for the last 30 years, the family owned and operated business offer an extensive range of meat, poultry, manufactured products and small goods to butchers, supermarkets, restaurants and hotels both locally and interstate.
Located within the meat processing facility, the business vision was to provide a ‘market’ style retail space to better showcase their diverse range of products and create a unique shopping experience not yet offered in South Australia.
When Croudace were invited to tender on the project the vacant refrigerated space was nothing more than industrial wall and ceiling panelling, heavy refrigerator doors and concrete floors. With an understanding of the existing site conditions, Croudace engaged with specialist consultants to engineer solutions to minimise condensation and moisture transfer between the adjacent refrigerated areas.
Partition framework and wall linings were then considered for each elevation to account for in slab heated elements and furring channel linings to double thickness Bondor panelling to maximise retail floor space.
Ceiling articulation was cleverly considered to make use of the ceiling height with the application of metal clad linings, dropped bulkheads, floating ceiling sections and feature suspended metalwork designed to follow the length of the main display counters.
Interior finishes were further explored through the joinery scope adding additional colour and pattering with the use of copper look chevron panelling above the main fridge doors, cantilevered timber fins with LED strip lighting, workspace storage with stainless steel benchtops and a generously sized point of sales counter.
Without question the feature element of the fitout design is the dry aged meat room with salt rock wall to assist with the aged meat process. Customers are given the opportunity to purchase a primal which is then labelled and remains on display within the room for up to 90 days before being shown how to prepare the dry meat by the specialist staff at Austral.
