Located at 11-27 Frome Street, The Adelaidean is home to the Crowne Plaza Hotel and at 138 metres tall and 37 floors, claims the top spot as Adelaide’s tallest building. The Adelaidean towers above surrounding buildings with only five buildings in Adelaide standing over 100 metres tall.
Our client approached us after we were recommended as specialists who could help out with a complex fit out project to Level 10. Part one, Koomo, a modern Japanese restaurant with art deco inspired design and part two a cocktail lounge bar, Luna 10, nestled on the edge of a rooftop pool deck.
Both projects, without doubt, are two of the most prestigious fit outs we have been lucky enough to be a part of.
When we first started working with the client, we looked through the plans and could see this was going to be a very unique build. They were looking for a fit out specialist who could work out the buildability of the designs. Someone who had experience working with unique materials and someone who could deliver the project on time and to a fixed budget.
Working on the highest restaurant fit out in Adelaide had it’s logistical problems to start. A four metre high central restaurant bar, made out of American Black Walnut, perforated brass sheets and clad in marble was to be constructed off site. We then had to work out how to get this up to level 10.
The materials on the design were all very unique. Large polished concrete planter boxes, smoked mirror splashbacks and perforated brass sheet all had to be custom made to order. This along with American Black Walnut panelling and European Beech solid timber furniture really contributed to the uniqueness of this design and would assure, once completed, this fit out would be aesthetically inspiring.
First we set about designing the construction of the central bar and how to accommodate all the many services that a restaurant bar would need. We accommodated services in hollow posts and a suspended ceiling within the bar. Next we began working with suppliers nationwide to source the materials we required for the fit out. To ensure there were no delays on the project timeline, we ordered our materials well in advance and stored them at our workshop until they were required.
We created a lot of components offsite and made them in a way so they could be broken down and put into transport crates that were craned up to level 10. This way we could get away with using bigger components than ones that would fit in the normal building lift.
On site we worked alongside various contractors to get the job over the line. A restaurant is a complex build as many trades have to work alongside one another. From plumbers, electricians to commercial kitchen installers and beer line installers, we worked together to ensure the best job possible was achieved.
The results now speak for themselves – the fit out is stunning.
Word has got out to the public how amazing the interior of Level 10 looks and they can’t wait to get a glimpse of it when it opens later this year. The vast array of high quality materials blend together to create a jaw dropping level of finish.
It was a true pleasure to be part of this project and we look forward to working with the project team again in the future.
