Colonnades Trees Project

Colonnades is an existing shopping centre located in Adelaide’s southern suburbs. The centre was looking for a modern, refreshing upgrade to its main arcade areas, something that coincided and complimented more recent upgrades carried out to other areas of the centre.

The current space was tired, outdated and unappealing. It didn’t look or feel like a place that customers would want to shop at. They needed an upgrade that updated the overall look and feel of the space but provided minimum interruption to customers and retailers during trade hours.

When our client Sarah Constructions first came to us with the design brief we were immediately engaged and excited at the uniqueness of the project. We had seen similar things done before but not on this scale. Needless to say, we were more than happy to be a part of the project from the start.

We worked closely with both our client, Sarah Constructions, and the architect, Brown Falconer, from the beginning to ensure that we were conscious of the budget but also the quality of the project – we wanted to ensure that we didn’t lose the integrity of the project by dropping the budget.  After a few meetings and design alterations we managed to put forward material selections, sizing and finishings that ticked all the boxes. We achieved this through clever design, minimised waste and simple fixing methodology.

As the works were being carried out in a section of the mall that was currently trading we knew we had to minimise interruptions to both retailers and centre customers. We carried out the works during a night shift roster to ensure this was met and also made sure that the site was left tidy and clean in the morning ready for trade to begin.

The end result was fantastic. It really succeeded the design brief and has left Colonnades with a much more up to date, modern space that is enjoyable to be a part of.

Everyone was very pleased with the construction process and the end product. We have received great feedback from all involved, including our client, the architect, retailers and customers but also the centre management team.

It was great to be a part of this project and we look forward to working with everyone again in the future.

Croudace Constructs had no hesitation committing to a very unique scope of works. They were engaging throughout the design development process and contributed greatly to design solutions. Throughout construction Croudace maintained open lines of communication and delivered a high quality finish on key design elements of the project.
